Exporting clients downloads a spreadsheet file of the clients in your Rithm account so you can open them outside the app—in Excel, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, or almost any spreadsheet tool.
Think of it as a snapshot of your client list. Rithm gathers the clients you currently work with, arranges their details into rows and columns, and saves that list as a CSV file (Comma-Separated Values). CSV is a simple, widely used format: each client is one row, each piece of information is a column, and you can sort, filter, print, or share the file however you need.
Why salespeople use it
- Keep a backup of your book of business
- Share a clean client list with a manager or teammate who does not live in Rithm every day
- Build reports, territory reviews, or handoff sheets in a spreadsheet
- Move client details into another system that accepts CSV or spreadsheet uploads
- Review notes, stages, importance, and visit settings in one place
What export is (and is not)
- It is a download of client records into a spreadsheet file.
- It is not a printout of your schedule or Today’s Route.
- It is not the same as importing. Import brings spreadsheet data into Rithm; export sends client data out of Rithm.
- It does not remove or change your clients in Rithm. Your live list stays exactly as it was.
The standard Export clients download is formatted for people to read: friendly column names, stage names spelled out, and Yes/No style answers where that is clearer than a database code.
Platform note: Exporting clients is available in the Rithm web app. It is not available in the Rithm for Sales iPhone app. On iPhone you can view and edit clients, but to download a spreadsheet you need to sign in on a computer (or a mobile browser) and use the web Settings flow described below.
Where to find it in the UI?
On the web
- Sign in to Rithm in your web browser.
- Open the main menu and choose Settings (gear icon).
- On the Settings page, scroll to the section labeled Import/Export.
- You will see buttons such as:
- Import client wizard — brings clients in from a spreadsheet
- Export clients — downloads your clients out as a CSV spreadsheet
Some accounts also see:
- Export clients: Raw transfer format — an advanced download used for technical transfers. Most salespeople only need Export clients.
Help text under this section explains the idea in plain language: if you have clients in a spreadsheet, they can become Rithm clients too (that is mainly about import). Export is the reverse direction: take Rithm clients out to a spreadsheet.
You need permission to use Settings and to download an export. If your company has turned those off for your role, you may see a Sorry page instead of a download. In that case, ask your Rithm administrator or manager.
On the iPhone app
Exporting clients is not available in the Rithm for Sales iPhone app.
On iPhone, Settings includes areas such as Account, Maintenance, Location, and Useful documents. Under Maintenance you may see tools like Bulk edit clients, Address Checker, Custom Fields, and Auto-Scheduler Settings—but there is no Export clients button.
To export, open Rithm in a web browser, go to Settings → Import/Export, and use Export clients there. Anything you already saved in the app is in the same account, so the web export reflects the clients in your Rithm account (for your current client list / view).
How to use it?
Before you export
- Make sure you are signed in on the web.
- Confirm you have clients in Rithm. If your client list is empty, export cannot create a file and you will see an error that there are no clients to export, with a way back to your clients list.
- Optional but helpful: open Clients (or Accounts, if your company uses that label) and glance over the list so you know what you are about to download. Export pulls from the client list associated with your current active view (including any team/share filter you have selected, if your company uses shared lists).
Export does not include clients that have been deleted in Rithm.
Step-by-step: Export clients (the usual choice)
- Go to Settings.
- Find Import/Export.
- Click the Export clients button.
- Your browser should start downloading a CSV file right away. There is no multi-step wizard for the standard export—one click builds the file and downloads it.
- Open the file in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, or another spreadsheet program.
If nothing downloads, check your browser’s download area or any “blocked download” notice. Some browsers ask you to allow the file the first time.
What the file is named
Rithm names the file using your current clients view name plus today’s date, for example:
Clients_2026-08-07.csv- or a shared/team style name if you are working in someone else’s shared client list
The date helps you tell today’s export apart from an older one.
What columns you get
The standard Export clients file is meant to be readable. Typical columns include:
| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Name | Contact / client name |
| Account | Organization or account name |
| Stage | Sales stage as a readable name (for example the stage labels you see in Rithm). If a stage is missing, you may see [Not set] |
| Importance | How important the client is in Rithm’s ranking |
| Type | Client type |
| Address | Visit / location address |
| Phone | Phone number |
| Email address | |
| Website | Website |
| Hours available | When the client can be visited |
| Virtual meetings only | Yes or No |
| Appointment only | Yes or No |
| Minutes per visit | Typical visit length |
| Weeks between visits or Cadence | How often you aim to visit. Which column you get depends on your Settings preference: Frequency (weeks between calls) vs Cadence (target calls per quarter) |
After those core columns, Rithm may add more columns for:
- Custom fields your company has set up
- Labeled note lines from client notes
How notes become extra columns
If a client’s Notes are written with labels like:
Decision maker: Dr. Smith
Samples left: 3 boxes
Rithm can turn those labels into spreadsheet columns (for example Decision maker and Samples left). Free-form text without a label tends to land under a Notes style column.
That is useful when you write structured notes the same way across clients—your export becomes easier to filter and sort.
Opening and using the spreadsheet
- Open the downloaded CSV in your spreadsheet app.
- Use the first row as column headers.
- Each following row is one client.
- Sort or filter by Stage, Importance, Account, city (if present in Address), and so on.
- Save a copy as
.xlsxif you want Excel formatting, charts, or extra columns of your own. Keep the original CSV if you might re-import or share a clean Rithm-style file later.
Exporting does not change anything inside Rithm. Editing the spreadsheet only changes your copy until someone imports data back using the Import client wizard.
If you see “Export clients: Raw transfer format”
Some users (often admins or technical roles) also see Export clients: Raw transfer format.
- That download is for system-style transfers, not everyday spreadsheet reading.
- Column names are more like internal field names (for example
organization,virtual_only,apmt_only, coordinates, visit history fields, and so on). - The file may use a
.raw(or.raw.csv) style name. - Most salespeople should use Export clients instead.
If you do not see the raw option, that is normal—your account simply does not include that permission.
Common situations and what to do
I clicked Export and got an error that there are no clients
Add or import clients first, or check that you are looking at the correct shared / filtered list. Then try Export clients again.
I landed on a Sorry page
Your role may not include export download rights, or Settings access. Ask your administrator to enable export for your account, or have someone with access run the export for you.
The file is missing a custom field or note label I expected
Custom fields appear when they are set up in Rithm. Note-based columns appear when notes use Label: value style lines. Plain paragraphs may stay in a general Notes column instead of splitting into many headers.
I am on my iPhone and cannot find Export
Use the web app in a browser: Settings → Import/Export → Export clients. The iPhone app does not include this download.
I only wanted my schedule, not my whole client list
Client export is for the client roster. For weekly planning downloads, Rithm has a separate Weekly Planner export path. Use Export clients when you need the book of business, not the day’s route.
Will teammates’ clients be included?
Export follows the same client list you are currently working in on the web—your personal active view. If your company has an account manager assigned, they can switch to the teammate list they care about first, then export.
Quick recap
- On the web, open Settings.
- Go to Import/Export.
- Click Export clients.
- Open the downloaded CSV in a spreadsheet.
- On iPhone, this feature is not available—use the web app when you need a client spreadsheet.
Exporting clients is a simple way to take your Rithm book of business with you into reports, backups, and handoffs—without changing a single record inside Rithm.
