Instead of typing every detail by hand, you photograph the card (or, on the web, upload a photo), Rithm reads the contact information with AI, and you review and save what looks right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What you can do with it<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quickly create a new prospect from a card you just received<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Update an existing client when you get a new or corrected card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose exactly which details to keep before anything is saved<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep a photo of the card attached to the client record for later reference<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What gets read from the card<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rithm looks for common contact details such as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Name<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Organization (company or account)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Job title<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Specialty<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phone<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Email<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Website<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Extra notes (for example a fax number, second phone, LinkedIn link, or tagline)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only details that appear on the card are suggested. You always review and confirm before saving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Before you begin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You need permission to use Advisor AI features. The Business Card Scanner opens from the Clients area when you are adding or updating a client.<\/p>\n<h3>Option 1 \u2014 Create a new client from a card<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Clients<\/strong> from the main navigation.<\/li>\n<li>Start adding a new client. From the Clients list, use the <strong>Add<\/strong> control (often shown with a plus icon). That opens the <strong>Add New Client<\/strong> screen.<\/li>\n<li>On the <strong>Add New Client<\/strong> header, select <strong>Business card scanner<\/strong> (business-card icon plus label).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Tip:<\/strong> On smaller browser windows, the label may hide and you may only see the business-card icon. Hover to confirm the tooltip says <strong>Business card scanner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Option 2 \u2014 Update an existing client from a card<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <strong>Clients<\/strong> and select the client you want to update.<\/li>\n<li>On the client details page, open the <strong>More<\/strong> menu (\u22ef).<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Update from business card<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Note:<\/strong> <strong>Update from business card<\/strong> is different from <strong>Add Photo<\/strong> in the same menu. <strong>Add Photo<\/strong> attaches a picture without reading the card. <strong>Update from business card<\/strong> reads the card and offers to update contact fields.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>How to use it (Web)<\/h2>\n<h3>Step 1: Open the scanner<\/h3>\n<p>Use either path above. You will land on a page titled <strong>Business card scanner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Capture or upload the card<\/h3>\n<p>You can use either method:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use the camera<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>If your browser asks for camera permission, allow it.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the camera preview (you may briefly see <strong>Connecting to camera\u2026<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>If more than one camera is available, use <strong>Select camera<\/strong> to choose the right one.<\/li>\n<li>Frame the business card so it fills most of the view and is easy to read.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Capture photo<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Upload a photo you already have<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select <strong>Select file<\/strong> (tooltip: <strong>Select photo from device<\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li>Choose an image from your computer or device (for example JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Optional: crop or retake<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use <strong>Crop<\/strong>, then <strong>Apply crop<\/strong>, if you want to tighten the frame around the card. Use <strong>Cancel<\/strong> if you change your mind.<\/li>\n<li>Use <strong>Retake<\/strong> or <strong>Retake photo<\/strong> if the first shot is blurry, dark, or cut off.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you are happy with the image, select <strong>Use photo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 3: Wait while Rithm scans the card<\/h3>\n<p>You will see <strong>Uploading image\u2026<\/strong>, then <strong>Scanning business card\u2026<\/strong>. This usually takes a few seconds. Please review the fields carefully.<\/strong> \u2014 The image may not be a clear card; review everything before saving.<\/li>\n<li><strong>No fields were detected on this card.<\/strong> \u2014 Try a clearer photo, better lighting, or a different angle.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Step 5: Save<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Confirm the checkmarks and edits.<\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Rithm creates a new client or updates the existing one, attaches the card photo to that client, and takes you to the client details page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>What happens when you save a new client<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Checked details are written into the client record. Job title is combined with the person\u2019s name when both are included (for example, \u201cJordan Lee (VP Sales)\u201d). New clients are set up as a typical new prospect so you can start scheduling and following up right away.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address alternatives<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If the address is ambiguous, you may see <strong>Address Alternatives Found<\/strong> with <strong>Select an address to use:<\/strong> Choose the best match, then <strong>Use Selected Address<\/strong>, or <strong>Cancel<\/strong> to go back and edit.<\/p>\n<h3>Canceling or starting over<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>On <strong>Review card<\/strong>, select <strong>Back<\/strong> to return to the camera\/upload step and try again.<\/li>\n<li>Select the <strong>\u00d7 Close<\/strong> control to leave the scanner and return to where you started (Add New Client or the client you were updating).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Tips for better scans (Web)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Place the card on a flat, contrasting surface.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid shadows, glare, and fingers covering text.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure small print (email, phone, website) is readable on screen before you tap <strong>Use photo<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Prefer a recent, high-quality photo if you upload a file instead of using the live camera.<\/li>\n<li>After saving, open the client and confirm phone, email, and address before you schedule visits or send messages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Troubleshooting (Web)<\/h2>\n<table>\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>What you see<\/th>\n<th>What to try<\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>No <strong>Business card scanner<\/strong> button or <strong>Update from business card<\/strong> menu item<\/td>\n<td>Confirm you can edit clients and that Advisor AI is enabled for your account. There is no separate Scanner tab.<\/p>\n<h3>Option 1 \u2014 Create a new client from a card<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Clients<\/strong> tab at the bottom of the app (people icon).<\/li>\n<li>Tap the <strong>+<\/strong> button in the top right to open <strong>Add Client<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the top toolbar, tap the business-card icon (a person on a rectangle). VoiceOver users will hear <strong>Scan business card<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Option 2 \u2014 Update an existing client from a card<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Open the <strong>Clients<\/strong> tab and select a client.<\/li>\n<li>Tap <strong>Edit<\/strong> to open <strong>Edit Client<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Tap the same business-card icon (<strong>Scan business card<\/strong>) in the toolbar.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>You can also reach <strong>Edit Client<\/strong> from a check-in flow when you edit client notes, then use the same scan icon.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>How to use it (iOS)<\/h2>\n<h3>Step 1: Open the scanner<\/h3>\n<p>From <strong>Add Client<\/strong> or <strong>Edit Client<\/strong>, tap the business-card icon. The full-screen camera opens with the title <strong>Business card scanner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Camera permission<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The first time, iOS may ask to allow camera access. Rithm shows a message explaining that the camera is used to scan business cards and add client information. Tap <strong>Allow<\/strong> so you can take the photo.<\/p>\n<p>If the device has no camera, you will see <strong>Camera Unavailable<\/strong> with the message <strong>A camera is required to scan business cards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Step 2: Photograph the card<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Hold the phone steady and fill the frame with the card.<\/li>\n<li>Use good lighting and avoid glare.<\/li>\n<li>Take the photo with the standard iOS camera shutter control.<\/li>\n<li>Or tap <strong>Cancel<\/strong> on the system camera to return to the Add\/Edit Client form without scanning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Important difference from the web:<\/strong> On iOS, scanning is <strong>camera only<\/strong>. You cannot pick an existing photo from your Photo Library for this feature.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 3: Wait while Rithm scans the card<\/h3>\n<p>After you take the photo, the camera closes and you will see <strong>Scanning business card\u2026<\/strong> while the image is uploaded and processed. Keep the app open and stay connected to the internet.<\/p>\n<h3>Step 4: Review the extracted details<\/h3>\n<p>When scanning finishes, the <strong>Review Card<\/strong> screen appears.<\/p>\n<p>If you are updating an existing client, you may also see a subtitle such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Checked fields will be merged with <a href=\"&#091;Organization&#093;\">Name<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Checked fields will be merged with [Name]<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Checked fields will be merged with [Organization]<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That means only the fields you leave checked will change on that client. If only Title is provided, it can be used as the name.
